Online Counsellor Coach

About Gary Redmond

I'm Gary Redmond, an online counsellor with more than twenty years' experience helping people overcome anger, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress and recurring emotional suffering.

During that time I've worked with people from many different backgrounds and with many different problems. Some came because they struggled with anger, others with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, addiction, grief or overwhelming stress. Although their stories were different, I repeatedly noticed the same underlying emotional process at work beneath the surface. That observation became the foundation of the work I do today.

Looking Beyond the Problem

Most people already know what they should do. They know they shouldn't lose their temper, worry so much, or keep having the same arguments. Yet despite understanding this, the emotional reaction still takes over.

That isn't because they're weak or lacking insight. It's because emotional reactions often happen automatically, long before we've had the opportunity to choose a different response.

My work is about helping people recognise those automatic patterns so they can respond with greater awareness, clarity and choice. When we understand what is happening beneath our reactions, we are far better placed to respond intentionally rather than automatically.

The Development of RIPP

After many years of working with clients, I developed RIPP, which stands for Resistance, Injustice, Powerlessness and Pain.

RIPP is not a diagnosis or another form of therapy. It is a simple framework for understanding why emotional suffering can become repetitive and why the same reactions keep appearing throughout our lives, often in completely different situations.

When people begin to recognise these patterns, they often discover they have far more choice than they previously believed. Rather than becoming trapped by automatic emotional reactions, they can begin responding with greater awareness and emotional freedom.

These ideas are explored in my book, The End of RIPP, and continue to shape the way I work with clients every day.

How I Work

I provide confidential online counselling and coaching for adults throughout the UK and internationally.

My approach is practical, supportive and tailored to the individual. Rather than simply talking about problems, we work together to understand what is happening in the present moment, how emotional patterns have developed, and how you can begin responding differently.

My aim isn't to tell you how to live your life. It's to help you understand yourself more clearly so that the choices you make reflect the person you want to be, rather than being driven by automatic emotional reactions.

Who I Work With

I work with adults who want to:

Manage anger more effectively
Reduce anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm
Improve communication and relationships
Break recurring emotional patterns
Build greater confidence and emotional resilience
Develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges

My Philosophy

I don't believe people are broken.

I believe most of us have developed ways of thinking and reacting that once helped us cope but now keep us trapped in cycles of unnecessary emotional suffering. Those patterns are learned rather than fixed, which means they can also be understood and changed.

Real change doesn't come from becoming someone different. It comes from becoming more aware of who you already are beneath the automatic reactions. When those patterns become visible, new choices become possible.

Helping people experience that shift has been the focus of my professional life, and it remains a privilege to see clients discover greater clarity, resilience and peace of mind.
